Verisity Improves Verification Productivity with Specman Elite Version 4.2
Up to 5x Improvement in Generation and Coverage Performance;
Includes Support for 64-bit Simulators and SystemC
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 2003--
Verisity Ltd. (Nasdaq:VRST), the leading supplier of essential
technology and methodology for functional verification, today
announced version 4.2 of the Specman Elite(R) testbench automation
solution. With Specman Elite v4.2, Verisity focused on increasing the
performance of all Specman Elite features as well as enhancing Specman
Elite's support for environments incorporating 64-bit and SystemC
simulators.
"As engineers move their verification environments to the
system-level, it is critical that their verification solutions provide
the most technically advanced capabilities," said Steve Brown, senior
product marketing manager for Verisity. "The powerful enhancements to
the latest version of Specman Elite not only speed verification for
engineers' designs today, but enables their Specman Elite environments
to scale with the increasing complexity of their next designs."
The latest release of the company's flagship product improves
performance by as much as 5x for some of the most common applications
including processor-based SoCs, and capacity improvements for general
coverage models that are common in large, complex SoC functional
verification environments. The most notable performance improvements
come from a new generation algorithm as well as a new coverage engine
that significantly improves memory efficiency. In addition, Specman
Elite's direct support for SystemC enhances interoperability for
engineers' working with system-level design flows and provides them
with a powerful way to model hardware early in the design cycle.
Version 4.2 also includes new features that make it easier and
more powerful to use. Those features include:
|
-- | A new External Simulator Interface (ESI). ESI is a procedural
interface available for Verisity Interoperability Partner
(VIP) simulator developers and customers to connect their
tools to Specman Elite in a standard way,
|
-- | Limited 64-bit platform support,
|
-- | An enhanced performance profiler: the performance profiler
helps users rapidly develop their verification environment,
identify performance bottlenecks, and efficiently produce a
final, high performance testbench,
|
-- | A Visualization Toolkit: the Visualization Toolkit enables
rapid development of new types of data reports in Specman
Elite,
|
-- | Ports: Ports are a new language feature that provide a common
syntax for unified communication and signal propagation from
the Specman Elite testbench to all different implementations
of the DUT, including HDL, SystemC, eCelerator and software.
This enables the same testbench to be used throughout the
various stages of design representation,
|
-- | Other new language features including encapsulation, delayed
assignment and semaphores. These features enable users to more
efficiently create high-level models in the e language and
easier modeling.
